Medical Courses at Sharjah University Laser and Training Center

The Sharjah University Laser and Training Center is devoted to clinical education, research and the development of standards and guidelines for the safe and effective use of laser technology applicable to the Middle East region. Here are some of the medical courses offered at Sharjah University Laser and Training Center.

Medical Laser Safety Officer

This approximately 8-16 hour course is designed for those assuming the responsibility of the facility Medical Laser Safety Officer (LSO), who manages the Laser Safety Program, and for practice and clinics owners.
Surgical Laser Principles & Safety

This approximately 4 hour program broken into modules is designed for staff working with or directly around surgical lasers in a hospital or clinic setting. It covers relevant biophysics, laser concepts, tissue effects and Safety. This course is also included as the first part of the Medical Laser Safety Officer Course.

Laser & Light Based Hair Removal

This approximately 16 hour program goes through all the skin & hair biology, laser concepts, safety, and laser & IPL hair removal methods. You'll receive a written course manual as part of this course that includes sample forms and guidelines.


Aesthetic Laser & Light Based procedures

This approximately 24 hour course covers everything from skin & hair biology, laser concepts, safety, tissue effects, hair removal, vascular & pigmented lesions, tattoos, skin rejuvenation, and skin resurfacing. The first modules are actually the Laser Hair Removal course

Laser Maintenance & Repair

Laser Maintenance & Repair lectures - approximately 16 hours. Includes week-long hands-on workshops for the Laser Repair. It covers laser physics, safety, tissue interactions, power & energy measurements, simple and advanced optics, and the basic system maintenance on the primary laser types including CO2, Ion, Solid State (crystal rods), and Dye laser systems.
